Food Safety First Announces New RSA Training Course
As of January 2023, the team at Food Safety First are pleased to announce that we deliver Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) training, along with the already popular Food Safety Supervisor and Food Handling Certificate training.
The decision to add this course was driven by demand from students who are looking for a one-stop-shop to complete all of their hospitality compliance training, and who want to study alcohol service with Food Safety First after a successful experience with their food safety training.
The course has been developed with student ease in mind, and so before developing the course we talked to a number of people from the industry about challenges they were finding with existing training available in the market. The number one challenge faced by almost all people interviewed was linked to the practical assessment – learners cannot serve alcohol until they hold an RSA certificate, but cannot hold an RSA certificate until they demonstrate certain practical tasks in serving alcohol.
This has led to an industry where inconvenient practical assessment times with assessors – or having to find friends and family to role-play with – is the norm.
As a result, we spent several months developing a series of interactive pre-recorded videos where students can record themselves interacting with our avatars using any device of their choosing that has a webcam and microphone. The feedback we have had from learners trialling this course is that it’s a real game-changer for the Australian market.
As always with Food Safety First, the RSA lessons and quizzes are fun, interactive and designed for maximum knowledge retention. And our assessors and support agents are always a phone call or email away for learners requiring assistance.
Students who complete their Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) training with Food Safety First will receive the latest unit of competency - 'SITHFAB021 - Provide responsible service of alcohol’. This unit supersedes unit of competency 'SITHFAB002 - Provide responsible service of alcohol' which is being phased out in the coming months.
The RSA course is currently accepted in Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory, however we expect to be launching in the remaining states shortly.
